There’s like a million tweets a minute right now about the iPad.  Apple has finally gone and done it.  They’ve made a tablet pc.  If I’m not mistaken, tablets have been around for a while.  The iPad is sleek and refined, but how practical is it?  I’m going to guess that this isn’t geared towards productivity.

How absorbent is the iPad?

Steve Jobs said during the iPad’s big announcement today that he sees a “third category” between laptops and smartphones.  I might see potential between the practicality gauntlets of laptops and smartphones too… but I’m not sure iPads are the answer.

But Apple says ‘yes,’ and they’re going to market our brains out.  One good thing will come out of it though, for sure… more great music on the television like Yael Naim or Feist.  Gotta love their marketing chops.

Get a chain for your iPad

Is the iPad for mobile teleworkers?  I’m skeptical, but I do want to head over to an Apple store and get my fingerprints all over one.  They are pretty.  It just doesn’t scream practical though, and something about it reminds me a little of Flavor Flav.  That’s right, Steve Jobs, the iPad’s getting a gold chain.

The financial big wigs think the iPad promises mass adoption.  Ashok Kumar, managing director at Northeast Securities Inc., told Bloomberg television:

“The first year for iPhone and iPod achieved 6 million units in sales – we think the tablet will achieve the same level of sales the first year of launch.”
