What is telework?

Telework is getting things done, wherever you are.  You may have heard of its family: work from home, telecommuting, remote working, virtual working, cloud working, sitting in a cafe without losing your job.  Well, telework is all of that.  It’s the way we work today.

Haven’t heard of telework before?  Then you might be surprised to know that the term “telework” was coined back in 1973 by the legendary Jack Nilles.  Here’s his definition:

“ANY form of substitution of information technologies (such as telecommunications and/or computers) for normal work-related travel; moving the work to the workers instead of moving the workers to work.”

Thanks, Mr. Nilles!  You rock.  And so does telework.
